Best Hair Salons in Mumbai

Well we all know that how important a haircut is. So let's have a look what are the best places in Mumbai to get a good haircut.

1. b:blunt
Mumbai's trendiest hair salon where you are sure to come across some or the other bollywood biggies. A chic salon, set up by Adhuna Akhtar, is one of the best places in town to get a great haircut. Transform dull hair into wow factor hair with the help of renowned hair stylists of b:blunt, stylist to actors such as Aamir Khan, Preity Zinta, Hrithik Roshan, Saif Ali Khan, Sharmila Tagore. Their friendly staff will suggest you the hair style best suited for your hair, but make sure you tell them if you have a specific need (like not going too short). They have two salons in Mumbai, one at Peddar Road and the other at Juhu.

Apart from their 'great haircuts', you can also indulge in one of the Kérastase hair treatments to relieve you from your stress and leave your locks visibly healthier, shinier and smooth.

Recommended Stylist: Avan Contractor, Osh (charges about Rs. 3,500) and Naz (charges about Rs. 1,800)

Charges: It can be a little bit pricey depending on which stylist and treatment you get, but normally the charges vary from 800-2500 for a hair wash, cut and blow dry.

Contact: 022-65980301 (Peddar Road, South Mumbai)
022-26285082 (Juhu Salon)

2. Jean Claude Biguine
What can be better than getting a haircut from a French stylist in India? The 5,000 square feet slick and sophisticated Jean Claude Biguine (pronounced 'bigeen') salon in Bandra has French stylists, trained in Paris, to work on your hair. This cult brand has hundreds of salons worldwide and is the right place for a quick hair fix. They use Kerastase products (upon request) and offer a variety of services including special hair treatments and nail care. In fact if time is in your hands then you must get a French manicure from here and you sure will forget all the manicures you ever got done.

Don't forget to your stylist the different hair styles you can create and take tips on blow drying that will save you from the last moment panic.

The perfect treat to transfer bland hair into serious glam! Definitely recommended (even for men).

Recommended Stylist: Edwin

Recommended Stylist: Sangeeta

4. Christiaan Georgio
Transform dull hair into a wow factor hair in just 30 minutes with the help of renowned hair stylist. Situated at Grand Hyatt Mumbai (off Western Express Highway) this ultra chic hair salon is your answer to perfection in hair styling. If you are looking for a blow dry, let me tell you this is the best place in town for a blow dry.

The place spells of luxury and exemplifies the ambience of a plush lounge. And if you are thinking of a short bob then this is 'the place' for you.

Trained at Vidal Sassoon and Trevor Sorbie Hair Academy in London and Melbourne Hair Academy, Christiaan Georgio has tamed the trés chic tresses of stars like Eva Longoria, Angelina Jolie and Monica Bellucci. Georgio's clientele in India includes most of Bollywood, high-end corporate executives and socialites. He personally attends to all his clients from start to finish.

5. Mad O Wot by Sapna Bhavani
Another popular celebrity stylist salon in Mumbai is 'Mad O Wot' by Sapna Bhavani. A self-taught hairstylist, Sapna Bhavnani works the tresses of the limelight-prone — be it Bollywood celebrities like Bipasha Basu, Minisha Lamba, Priyanka Chopra, the Reddy sisters (Sushma, Sameera and Meghna) or the cricket brat-pack led by Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh.

They say, we don't follow trends, we create them'. So if you want something different, edgier or maybe funky this is the salon for you.

The Salon's address and contact details are:
Mad O Wot Hair Salon:

close to Bombay Blues Restaurant,
14th Road, Bandra WestMumbai - 400050

Contact: 022-65290288, 022-65290289

6. Toni and Guy
The famous Toni and Guy also opened its doors in Mumbai somewhere in 2008. It sure is a trendy salon (with white interiors) with their trendy hair stylists, but I wouldn't say much about the hair cut as was not good enough. But yes, finally, you can find the so-sought after GHD Hair Straighteners at Toni and Guy Mumbai at Bandra. They have two salnons in town, one in the suburbs and the other in South Mumbai (don't know much about the Cuff Parade one).

Toni and Guy - Bandra

  4. hi anonymous --- do u actuallly hd an experience with some best known saloons in town........ i am looking for male saloons.... and am confused..... just am not from mumbai but have lived abroad and need guidance on the profesional men saloon for hair cut.

  5. Dear Anonymous

b:Blunt is good, for Rs 1200 you could get a cut with Naz, she's a good stylist. Alternatively, if distance is not a problem, you can also try Alam (Stylist) at Franck Provost in Juhu (he charges about Rs 800-900 and have heard good reviews).

Jean Claude Biguine's Edwin is also good, but a bit pricey.

    ReplyDelete
  6. For good men's hair salon, go to Jean Claude Biguine (you can ask for Edwin) or at b:Blunt (stylist Osh). They both are good and very professional.

Edwin is the French stylist and Osh is also a very senior stylist, well-trained in Europe.

    Enjoy your haircut!!!!

  8. WISH YOU A VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY.

Its a great idea to have nice haircut for your birthday. I would recommend you choose either Juice or b:Blunt(preferred) for a nice haircut. They have different category of stylists whose charges range from as low as Rs 600 to Rs 2500. You can ask for a good experienced stylist for your budget.

They both are located on peddar road, close to each other. I usually recommend b:Blunt.

You can choose nice side swept bangs on the front, and rest of the hair straight (as in no layers). This style usually suits curly hair, but would also depend on your face shape. The sylist would help you in choosing a suitable hair style for you. But do check if bangs would look good on you.

    Have a great day!!!

  10. b:Blunt is very good. Their stylists are all very well-trained and go for regular trainin either in their own academies or in London and New York.

They are well-updated with latest styles, and would suggestyou a good hairstyle that would suit your face.

Would not recommend Habibs. Not as good and professional as b:Blunt

    ReplyDelete
  16. @Anonymous Dec 4th

Hi there. First of all, I must tell you that rebonding or any sort of permanent straightening treatment really damages hair and you must avoid it.

It makes the hair dry, brittle, lifeless and aggravates hair fall problem.

For a good haircut, I would strongly recommend b:blunt, its at Peddar Road, not very far from Colaba. They have highly trained hair stylists and they are one of the best in town.

At b:Blunt, you could try Osh (he's a bit expensive at Rs 2,500). If you need someone more reasonable, try Naz. She's good. Explain them your problem and what style you need and they'll give a good haircut.

    Hope this helps.

  17. hi there....i really need ur advice....i have medium length straight/ wavy hair, but its thin & sort of dry...i have never done any experimenting but its my sis's wedding in a couple of weeks n really wanna have some different cut...can u suggest someplace good where the stylist himself will give me a cut that suits me without me having to think of something?? cuz im absolutely confused!! :( oh n btw, i dont wanna spend more than rs.1000...plz help...thanks a lot! rucha...

    ReplyDelete
  18. Hi Rucha

For a wedding you should go for something that would look great on Indian and is not too much to work on, an easy to manage style.

Since I don't know your face shape, I can't really suggest something but usually side swept bangs work on most face shapes and look great. I have see many girl wearing this style with Indian dresses and looks amazing. Instantly makes you look younger and fresh.

As for the stylist, for Rs 1,000 I would suggest you go to Juice in Bandra and ask for Alam. He is good, but make sure you explain him what 'you don't want'. Stylist can recommend you and experiment withyour hair, but if you don't like it, can't blame them really.

Bangs (also called Fringes) as I told, keep them a bit so it is manageable. And part them sideways. You can check this link to see what are side sept fringes:http://beautify-flr.blogspot.com/2009/01/2008-fashion-flashback-happy-new-year.html
(Reese Withrspoon has side swept ones, butyou ask for longer bangs)
    Juice phone number: 022 26045589

You could also ask for Naz at b:Blunt, she would charge about Rs 1,200, she's good too (in case Alam is not there).

I hope this helps, good luck and enjoy the wedding.

  19. hi, can somebody suggest me a good hair styling academey in Mumbai?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Hi Suha

b:Blunt, Toni and Guy are very reputed Hair Styling Academies in India and of course Mumbai.

Though Toni and Guy is a brand across the world and they would be more advanced. Its like the Harvard in hair styling.

  21. Hey everyone!

    Its a wonderful post!
Well, I have a query...and it'd be great if someone can help me!
I have long hair...waistlength. And thick! They're plain...as in no hairstyle to it. I am currently in UK doing my postgrad. I will be coming to Mumbai later this month.

I have tried Enrich and it wasnt satisfactory. Somehow, I want someone I can trust with my hair. I dont like a high-maintenance hairstyle...and definitely no straightening....I have really nice hair already!

What usually happens is that the hair-dresser at Enrich stares at me...and asks me exactly what I wanted. If I knew what I could do to them....why'd I come to her!

I wana go to a good parlour. However, I am sceptical about Mad O Wat and other high-end one's....cause I have heard that they'd charge me good 5000 and it want be so good! I can pay upto 2grand....and also, dont want any over the top-hip hairdo! Just slightly stylish...hairdo...!

If you could guide me...It would be of a lot of help!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Hey Janki,

I understand your problem, coz I also always look for a low-maintainence hair style..

Well Enrich is not really gud to start with...But u've not been informed correctly regrding the prices as even the high end-ones (being mostly jean claude, frank provost, tony n guy and d like) do not charge mre than 2 grands. The prices may vary depending on the level of hair stylists, but u can b assured that they will be well within your criteria.

In my opinion, u cud try B blunt at either Juhu or Peddar Road or even Juice at Khar. They have good hair stylists n u must mention ur requirements to them before u get ur hair cut.

Hope you have a gud experience !!!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Thanks for this blog. I am a 24 year old girl - just moved to Bombay from NYC a couple months back. Most of the hairdressers I have visited here don't have a clue about layering. I want to get a deep angular cut with lots of layers and therefore, am looking for someone who has been trained abroad (i.e. NY, London etc.). I am quite used to paying around Rs 2500 (back home) for good haircuts so if I have to spend that kind of money here, I am okay doing so...as long as the cut is good.

Beautify - you mentioned b:Blunt several times. Which stylists would you recommend for my request and approximately how much do they charge?

    Thanks!!

    ReplyDelete
  24. hi
i want a good hair stylist for straight hair and also for curly hair(for my friend), in the price range of 500-600 in south-central mumbai. I have heard Mad-o-wot, b:blunt and Juice are good. could u recommend some stylists in the required price range from these places.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Hi Monica

b:blunt is actually one of the best hair salons of India.

All the stylists there are mostly trained abroad and regularly go for updating themselves with latest in hair.

Osh is a senior stylist there and is good, he charges about Rs 2500. Check if you if you get an appointment with Adhuna, she's the best.

Avan Contractor is also very good.

If you can spend about Rs 3500-4000, you can also try to get an appointment with CHRISTIAN GEORGIO, he has a salong at Grand Hyatt.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Hey! Thanks a ton for the guidance. Is there anyone in particular that I should seek an aptmnt from at b blunt or at juhu parlour!

    ReplyDelete
  27. AT b:Blunt you could try Osh or Naz (depending on your budget). At Juice (Khar), Alam is good (though a bit talkative)

    ReplyDelete
  28. hi, can u suggest me..a gud salon as i am confused about getin mah haircuts..nd a gud sujjestion dat suits meh....mah budget rs1000 plzzz

    ReplyDelete
  29. hey im a bit confused above u mentioned alam at franck provost at juhu and then alam at juice..is it the same person?i live bang opposite juice at khar .deaperate to get a new haircut.my hair is extremely thin. now i can go to alam & naz as goin to both r convenient 4 me(i work at charn rd).if u had to suggest me the best from both who would it be?

    ReplyDelete
  30. Hi Aditi

Alam used to work at Frank Provost, he's now moved to Juhu.

I were to recommend you one of the two, I would say get it done with Naz, she is well-trained and has more experience. At b:Blunt senior stylists go abroad for touch-up hair courses, so I'd say she's a better option.

    ReplyDelete
  31. thanks! i did go to Naz and i love my new haircut. by the way she charges Rs. 1800/- and not Rs. 1200/-

    ReplyDelete
  32. congrats for the new haircut
Ya I heard that they increased their prices.

Since its your wedding you should really no experiment and go for a good stylist. Someone with good experience and name.

I would recommend you go to b:Blunt salon (details of the salon is in the post above). Ask for their senior stylist Osh or Avan. In case they are not their, book with a senior stylist of same league at the salon (avoid Mamta).

    Hope this helps.

If you are looking for an alternate, you could try Alam at Juice (Khar).

But you can always call them ontheir Bandra Salon at 022-65222211 and check with them

    ReplyDelete
  45. Well, as I have mentioned that, I was in Mumbai for my sister's wedding.

I had only a few hours. I did check b:blunt, but it turned out VERY expensive. Starting off 3000 for basic stuff. And then, I also didnt have too much time.

I went to a local parlor, Shimmer. The stylist called Ketki. She did a fantastic job.

But I mean, I am still in want of a completely 100% different hairdo. A friend suggested 'Mad O Wot'! Is it good?

    ReplyDelete
  46. Mad O Wot is a good salon, run by Sapna Bhavnani, te celebrity har sylist. However, her cuts are more on the funky side. So if you looking for an experiement, then you can try her. Getting an appointment with Sapna herself culd be difficult, and she is a bit expensive.

As for b:Blunt, I can assure you that some of their very good stylists charge half of wat you quoted. Rs 3000 is charged by their senior most stylists.

You can book an appointmen with Kadamberi, who carges Rs 1300 at Juhu salon (022-26285082) or from Naz at pedda road, who'll charge about Rs 1800 (no. given in the post above).
Both are very good stylists, lot of my acquaintances have got a cut from them and are vey happy.

If you would like to visit Mad O Wot, you can book an appointment: 022-65290288, 65290289

  52. Any good stylist can recommend you what would suit your face. But getting a haircut is about personal choice.

The stylist may recommend you something, but you must also like it.

Bangs usually look good, have a look at this link to check what sort of bangs u like: http://beautify-flr.blogspot.com/2009/01/2008-fashion-flashback-happy-new-year.html

U can go to b:blunt at juhu or peddar road (Naz o Kadambari).

  66. I'd suggest you go for fringes. They look great and suit almost all hair types and fae shapes. Goes well with wavy hair, as u'll then have myriad options of styling.

As for salon in Mumbai, within your budget I'd suggest either of the 3 options:

    1. Juice Salon in Khar (Alam is good stylist)
    2. Jean Claude Biguine (Edwin is good)
    3. b:Blunt (Naz at Peddar Road or Kadamberi at Juhu branch)

all of them are good, Jean Claude maybe a little over your budget, but this French guy is good.

For address and phone numbers, check the post above, it has all details of these 3 salons

  71. You could go for a senior stylist at b:blunt like Osh or Avan Contarctor. They're good and can give you a nice trendy look.

    Alternatively, also try Mad-o-wat

  75. hi everyone,
i have straight medium length hair which i don't like. i like wavy or curly with old amrita singh or dimple style hair. whom should i go to? is b:blunt good for that? how many days in advance i have to call them to book? as i am visiting mumbai just for 5days.

  76. hi i have question..i am not a regular to spent above 500 for a haircut, but if we visit this places and if a haircut cost is around 1000, how much one should tip? and should it be given to the stylist or tobe added in to the total payment?
    thanks

  77. i will be in town for a wedding this month and am not familliar with mumbai, but as i recently had a very bad haircut and it needs to be fixed asap. i need the very best, price is no object. who would you recommend?
christiaan georgio sounds promising, but i would like to get your opinion. i would be staying at the jw marriot, and although i don't mind travelling a bit, i would prefer not be in the car for hours. also, do you know if christiaan georgio does kerastase treatments?

    ReplyDelete
  78. @ Anonymous 25 May: b:blunt is a good salon and I would highly recommend Kadamberi for you. She has given some very good haircuts for people looking for especially a wavy or curly hairdo. She prefers wavy to straight hair. She is at juhu branch of b:Blunt.

Alternatively, you could also try Alam at Juice Salon in Khar. He is also good.

    ReplyDelete
  79. @ Anonymous 2nd June: Christian Georgio is great, but it is very difficult to get an appointment with him. Most of the times he is travelling, but you can manage to get an appointment with him directly then he's the first recommendation.

You can alternatively, also try b:Blunt salon and go for Avan Contractor or Osh. They are the senior most stylists at salon and have a very good reputation for their styling and cutting in the industry. Their charges are about Rs 2500-3500 for a haircut.

  80. Basically its totally wrong that Sapna Bhavnani gives Funky hair style..! m regular at MAD-O-WOT..!! She believes in giving haircut with low maintenance you dont require any blow dry or to waste time everymorning to set ur hair..! all the stylist are simply awesome..! they understand the way out falls on its own.. n trust me.. if proper haircut falls in place .. u look awesome. initially have tired everythin frm b:blunt to toni n guy..!! but nothing like MAD-O-Wot.. and its not really expensive.. starts from 650 to 2000..!! ASK for Kiran : Rs. 1450.., Vinati: 1200rs. , sarika, mahera, avni, sushil all are excellent..!!!!

  81. Hi there I actually have curly medium length hair. I have been straightening it everyday and am done with wasting so much time not to mention the damage it does to my hair. I wanted to get my hair rebonded.. so please recommend a good place in Bombay and approximately how much it would cost me. I normally dry my hair so the curls are a bit relaxed after which I straighten them. I have noticed when I straighten them they seem to have some volume as compared to the poky straight look the stylists end up giving when I get it straightened by them. I would much rather prefer a more natural and bouncy look then poky straight hair so is rebonding the right choice for me is there anything like partial rebonding?

    ReplyDelete
  82. @11 June, Anonymus: First thing you must know is, rebounding will definitely cause some damage to your hair, no matter which stylist you go to. It makes hair dry, brittle and I know people who have witnessed lot of hairfall after rebounding. So think twice before you actually get it done.

Moreover, if you go for rebounding, it certainly will give you poker straight hair, the volume that you require would be lost.

My suggestion is, firstly stop straightening your hair everyday, it damages your hair as you're exposing it to heat everyday.

Get a good haircut to ensure your hair look its best everyday. When you're going for a special occassion, you could straighten them enough to give you the balance of volume and straight hair (not the poker straight, if you dont like it).

Whenever you straighten your hair, make sure you use the hair heat protection serum to ensure the hair is protected.

    I hope this helps.

  83. Hi! Thats an impressive post on hair salons and styling! While most of my questions are answered, what does one do about hair color, especially when you want to cover the grays and also if you want a new glamorous but natural look?

Has anyone tried hair coloring at any of the above salons? How safe is it? I have never done anything to my hair and now have very few grays (done no chemical treatments ever), but I've had a history of hair fall and very dry, static hair.

    Please comment or suggest, Thanks

    ReplyDelete
  84. Hair colouring is one of the best and easiest ways to get rid of greys and updo your look.

However, it does come with some cost, after all you're putting chemicals to work on the hair. It has been found to make hair dull and lifeless and in some cases also hairfall. But then in certain cases, it didn't do any damage.

So how will colouring react to your hair would be known only when you colour them.

As you have never gone for any chemical treatment, you could opt out of colouring and use some natural way to get rid of greys.

These days you can find heena (mehendi) in different shades (black, dark brown, etc) to colour your hair. It's natural and good. But with this method, you might have to colour your hair more frequently.

    Hope the information help!!!!

  88. Christian Georgio is good, but you must get appointment from him. If he's not avaiable (which is 8 out of 10 times you try to book), try Sapna Bhavnani's Mad O Wot in Bandra. She'll give you what you require.

In case Sapna is alsonot available, third very good option is b:blunt, get haircut from either Naz (peddar road) or Kadambari (Juhu)

  93. Tipping at the Hair Salons:

How would you tip at a particular salon would depend on the salon's policy.

The easiest way to tip your stylist, which will work at all salons, is to budget ahead and have some cash in varying denominations with you before entering the salon. This way, you can simply slip him or her what you feel is an appropriate amount and not have to worry about asking for change or figuring out the percentage amount at the till.

    Other ways:
Some hair salons have a tip jar directly at their station in which you can deposit your tip.

Luxury hair salons or spas may provide envelopes in which you can discreetly place tips for your stylist.

If neither of these options are provided, you will have to find another way to give your stylist a tip.

If you are paying for your hair cut with a credit card, keep in mind that not all credit card machines will provide you with the option to add a tip to the total. To be safe, ask your stylist or the cashier to add a certain percentage or amount to your bill before they ring the transaction through.

  94. Hair stylists in Juhu:

  95. Hi..i have hair little down to my shoulders, its thin, and frizzy and little wavy from down.I have hair fall also.
Later in feb 2010,i took a haircut from a peacock salon here in vashi, navi mumbai if u have heard of it..!
fringes in front and i asked the stylist to give me more of volume. It looked awesome after the cut because it looked straight due to blowdry for 3 days. But i dont think a good cut really works for me.
i have my ring ceremony coming tuesday and marriage after two months and im really worried what to go for. So im thinking to do straightening which seems a last and quick option. What do u have to say about it?
i am thinking to get it from the same salon or juice which is at inorbit mall, vashi.
Do u have any idea about juice at inorbit? about which hairstylist is good over there?
is it good or not..? it is charging me 6600 for straightening.
also suggest me should i do strightening or not..!
because my cousin also did da same its been 1 year but she says hair is normal as it was before. No damage or as such she says as i have been hearing about straighetning..!
she did it from thane and they gave them wella produts after straightening.
what do u have to say about it??
please suggest me something good. I am nervous for my wedding as hair is the only problem i have.

    ReplyDelete
  96. @dreamz: first of all a Big Congratulations!!!

Stragtening is a chemical process which would damage your hair in the medium-long term.

All the people I know who have undergone straightening have witnessed lot of hairfall later followed by their hair becoming hard and losing the softness. So is no recommendd. For you wedding and engagement and other functions, if you prefer straight hair look, use a good wuality cermaic hair straighter for the job. You can invest in a good straightner instead of paying for the treatment. But dont make it a habit to straighten everyday, else you'll face same trouble.

As for a haircut, since its a big day for you, you must go for a good salon. I would recommend b:blunt in Juhu. They have very good, experienced and trained stylists.

Kadambari, Naz and Osh are the recommended stylists there.

    ReplyDelete
  97. @ beautify..
not only for the functions i want my guy also to feel good when i am with him.lol.
Like perfect looks n all.So was thinking to get rid of same old look, tying a ponytail becos of such normal hairdo.
Is it so bad? becos i have seen straightened hair it doesnt looks thin,or people dont look bald.My cousin sis says the hairfall is normal as it was before for her before straightening which is from within.
i went to peacock hair salon today itself it estimated at about 7200 and along with power bond, dont remember da exact name but this is for lessening the effects of amonia.
they will be using loreal products, shine bond and also they will be giving a haircut. Dont u think its too much?
so should i go for it or not?
if yes then guide me through which products i should go and which salon will give me good benefits like this one gave,or also if i can get more than this... and only around 6000 cos this is too much isnt it?
and also let me know seriously if it has ill effects and most percentages havent faced something good through straightening then i wont go for it.:(
but nothing seems as a fast option to change my looks.

    ReplyDelete
  98. @ beautify..
and also every salon i went the stylists, they said its not at all a problem nothing like hairfall or stopping the normal hair growth.
i dont know why they say that when u r saying this..:(
    im confused.

    ReplyDelete
  99. @dreamz: Many hair experts have said that chemically processing the hair would do damage to your hair, sooner or later. So it is not advisable for hair straightening.

You can use hair straightening irons temporarily, it would be a far better choice, giving the same straight hair. You can buy good GHD straighteners at Toni and Guy hair salon in bandra (address given in the post above).

There's a lot you can do with your original hair. Give a haircut that would give good bounce and wave to the hair, and it would look very stylish and feminine at the same time. Guys usually like nice waves and bouncy hair. And if you want them straight for a change, you have the option to straighten with your hair straightener.

But if you go poker straight, the choice would be narrower.

So I suggest you dont go for permanent straightening considering pros and cons.

But if you still feel it compulsive go get the straightening done, then yes go for best quality products. Loreal is good enough.

  104. Hey..i wanted to know a good treatment for hair fall and for
strengthening hair, for it to be strong.
can u suggest me any good treatments for the same? i have heard about
kerastase treatment..how is it?i went to a loreal salon they said they
dont use kerastese but loreal, and for treatment 3 to 4 session is
necessary..is it true?or just one will do?
and also please suggest me top salons in pune if u know which can
provide good treatment for hair? and do u have any idea about trichologist..? in which salon i will get trichologist?
i have hairfall and the hair is not so strong so suggest me treamntment accordingly.
let me also know the price ranges of the salon u will suggest me.

    ReplyDelete
  105. @dreamz - The treatments from Kerastase and Loreal have not helped in hair fall and straightening. It's more of a marketing gimmick.

A couple of my acquaitnances have also tried trichologist, Richfeel, but it did not help. They will keep on calling you for visit, prescribe their medicines and it will go on and on. However, in India they are the only good trichologists.

You can atleast visit them once and get all the tests done to know whether the problem is general or due to some deficiency.

You may also visit a good Endocrinologist, he/she will be better at diagnosing hormone related hair loss, if any.

There is also a naturopathy specialist Nirmala Shetty in Mumbai, who does hair treatments through suggesting proper nutrition and her natural hair treatment through herbs, fruit juices and hairoil massage. Their contact number is 022-26518465.

Pls visit a specialist, not the kerastase or any other cosmetic treatments. They dont have any good reviews of helping in hair loss or hair fall. Its good for conditioning and making hair softer. However, too mcuh conditioning will only make hair look thinner.

    Hope this helps!!

    ReplyDelete
  106. but then why celebrities are in salons all the time for their hair? and the result of their hair is softer and healthier..

i have heard the more hair will feel relaxed, oxidised and stressed out,it will fall less.Even for b:blunt u have suggested kerastase why?
see actually my hairfall is normal, like 6 to 7 strands a day and around 10 to 15 after washing, its dry and frizzy also.
so it is necessary to visit a doctor or jst relaxing it will do?
i hope nirmala is not like doctors who dont give treatment,, just ask for money..?
ya i will consult her too,but i find visiting doctors too tedious..and if it happens that my hairfall becomes more after visting doctors,im afarid of that moreover..!

    ReplyDelete
  107. @dreamz - if its a normal hairfall, you need not visit a doctor. But you can visit Nirmall Herbals, the expert Nirmala Shetty will give you a diet plan for maintaining good hair and skin, and once you incorporate it, you're problem will not aggravate further and would improve over a perid of time.

Take a couple of her hair treatment (its all natural) and you'll immediately see the difference. Its your choice whether you want to continue or not, so there's no harm in going. Plus its all natural, so no side effects.

As for celebs, many a time they promote things, because they're paid for it. Actually they may themselves not be using it. This Nirmala Shetty is also consulting many celebs and Femina Miss India for their skin and hair through natural stuff. So you can trust her.

I suggested Kerastase for making hair softer, their conditioning treatment is good for dry and dull hair. But for hairfall, recently I got the feedback that it is not very good. You can try either, but natural is the best way, as it atleast has no side effects.

Can someone please suggest a salon and hair-dresser in the range of 1000-1200?

    Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  110. @dreamz: only Chembur's clinic of Nirmal provides services for men and allow them in. Rest others have no entry for men. Their Bandra's clinic is the best amongst all, when you're going on your own, visit this one. It's a good place, so there should be no problem taking your fiance along. Do visit the place when Nirmala Shetty is available so you can take consultation from her and get a diet plan made from her.

    Congratulations for the engagement!!!!

  111. @Anonymous: You can visit Juice or b:blunt salon. Tell them your budget and they would suggest the stylists who will be available in that range. Their senior stylists cost more, juniors charge comparatively less. Details of the salon are mentioned in the post above.

    ReplyDelete
  122. in my opinion all 'hairstylists' in bombay know only one cut...disconnected layers wirh an asymmetrical fringe. ive been to juice, b blunt, mad o wot, asifs in bandra and they've ALL given me the exact same cut. recently i tried asking for a long bob with some softening wisps that would brush my cheeks at mad o wot versova but the stylist told me that i shouldnt lose the length and said she would give me layers that would give my hair shape and would look 'fabulous'. What did I end up with ??-- surprise surprise-- the same old layered cut. the only difference was that I didnt do the fringe this time and i also lost tons of length despite the stylist telling me that she would only cut off about 2-3 inches. I had hair half way down my back and the way she described the cut I thought I was going to get long feminine layers while more or less retaining my length, not short spiky ones. And thats another thing that no stylist here seems to be able to do - long layers. they are always short and spiky and wavy as hell. ive learnt my lesson - the next time I want a simple cut Im just going to go to my local salon. Its just a huge waste blowing up money on these so called edgy, funky places.

    ReplyDelete
  123. @Nina: thanks for your review. Can you also give us the names of the stylists, so our readers can make a better decision before getting the haircut.
    Thanks

    ReplyDelete
  124. i dont remember the stylists' names at Juice and Asifs. At b blunt juhu it was Andrea, at mad-o-wot versova it was Neha. im not saying any of them are bad at what they do, just that stylists here are stuck in a rut, plus they never listen to the client. its fine to make suggestions, but if the client is so obviously resistant to your ideas and has something else in mind, move on and just do what the client wants. what they do is impose their ideas on you whether you're happy with them or not. then they expect you to gush over a cut that you never wanted!

  125. Hey Im getting married in next 14 days and It would be of graet help if you could answer this as soon as possible..I have wavy medium length hair but every salon suggests something different..Runah opp. Phoenix mills suggested Smoothening, Enrich suggested Rebonding and Habibs suggested Relaxing...Im confused..what looks best on hair..I dnt want poker straight hair...just want the frizz to go.
pls suggest what you think is best? Thanks a lot :)

    ReplyDelete
  126. @Megha: Congratulations!!!!

Well, every stylist would recommend something different, and it does not always work for you. My suggestion is don't do anything drastic with your hair, as you won't have time to fix if something goes wrong.

Just trim your hair, maybe get some layers as they add volume and look good on most face types and would give you varied options to style your hair.

Try b:Blunt Salon (Kadamberi stylist is good) and ask them to give you a trim and blow dry and style it nicely. Would work best. For different functions you could style the same hair differently.

Try middel partition in one and side partition with waves in the other. You could also consider a nice chignon for one of the functions. Go to a good salon, as its your most imp day and you would not want to regret. b:Blunt is really good, and Kadamberi is good. She styles well, and listens to what clients want.
Most stylists won't listen to the client and you might end up in a style you hate.

    Good luck!!!!

  133. Hi, i am Rudra - the post appears to be informative and useful. I am pretty touchy about my hair styling - and after a series of bad experiences in Bangalore abandoned the idea of a good cut for past 2 years!. I'll be touring Mumbai sometime in Jan and would like to go in for a smashing cut without losing much of hair length - at present it is about a feet long below my neck and am bored with the pony haired look. Please give me your valuable insight regarding the best places i can visit for my requirement. I will be staying at Vile Parle - so something nearby would be even better & are the salons open on Sunday evenings as well ? My budget is upto 1K.

    ReplyDelete
  134. @Pooja: the salons I'd been recommending in all my comments and posts are tried and tested are the best in Mumbai. Hence the recommendation. You can tell them your budget (Juice or b:Blunt) and they'll recommend you a stylist within that budget. Moreover, all the good salons have just one price which includes your hairwash, cut and styling. And a hairwash is madatory because of hygiene reasons.

@Rudra: Bad experience of a haircut can be frustrating. If you can stretch your budget a littel (@Rs1300) then I will highly recommend Kadamberi at b:Blunt in Juhu (Contact details mentioned in the post above). She is great and would not chop your hair much if you dont want them short. Its also very close to Vile Parle so you wont have to travel much.

  135. I'm from the states...moved to Bombay a few months ago... I checked out Juice in the Inorbit mall @ Vashi...it ws ok...but what I really need is a salon that does boyish haircuts...I totally want to go drastic...the shortest I've gone is bobs...but now I'm ready for a change & really need a salon that really knows how to cut short hair...you know you can't really fix short hair once you've messed it up...so that's why I need the best...as for price range...im flexiable to an extend...

  140. Hi... Beautify (u truly are an amazing source of guidance)...
m also planing to streak my hair... 2 streaks of blonde on lower 2 sides... Wat do yu have 2 say abot diz ?
@B:blunt how much do they charge for 1 streak ? ?
Any other advice is welcome..... thanks a ton....

    ReplyDelete
  141. @Mishikaa: Mona is a good stylist, charges about Rs 850. However, if you are looking for a very good stylist and can stretch your budget to Rs 1,300 then I'd strongly recommend Kadambari. Both are in Juhu.

As for colouring, blond usually does not suit Indian skin type, however you can always take second opinion from your stylist and they'll guide you better in-person (explain your style and preferences and take their suggestion).
Choice and style of colour is a very personal choice. Would depend whether you like funky look, trendy but undertoned, natural or something subtle.

Charges for colouring vary on many factors and I can't say unless I see your hair.

Best is to call at b:blunt (Their numbers are given above) and they'll give you all requisite details, including charges.

  144. I want a nice and different haircut for my 17th birthday!
I dont wanna reduce my length but just want some style from ahead cause i wanna grow my hair longer than what it is and if i cut off the length it takes tooo long to grow back. And hence im confused which parlour would give me the BEST CUT as per my requirement. I really want something diff this time since i have straight hair and not much usually happens in it..
I have been to mad o wot thrice before.. and toni n guy once.
Idk much about juice or b blunt. What would you suggest?

  145. Hi.. I have long wavy hair. After reading your post I had gone to b:blunt n got my haircut done from kadambari. But it was ok. It wasn't that great. I just shifted from Delhi and am not aware about the hairstylists in Mumbai. I want a change in hairstyle. Probably a very nice cut which can make my hair look bouncy plus I want an ombré hair color. But I'm just scared as not all stylists can give a good ombré hair coloring. Can you please recommend a good stylists who can color as well as cut my hair amazingly so that I can get a kind of makeover done.
I called up Jean Claude biguine and they told me Edwin is not working there anymore.

  148. Hi... I want to go for hair REBONDING or STRAIGHTENING, whichever gives me a naturally straight hair look.. I stay in Nerul, Navi Mumbai and would prefer some salon nearby. I had recently visited the JUICE salon at Inorbit mall vashi for consultation.. They said they would do Schwarzkopf rebonding for me... I also visited EXQUISE salon at Inorbit mall, vashi and they said they would do LOREAL Straightening for me... I am really confused.. I really long for beautiful straight hair but need some real good and wise advice as in, where do I get the best from... Please help me decide!!

    ReplyDelete
  149. @Meera: for a good haircut you can visit b:blunt (Kadambari or Naz) in Juhu or Mad-o-wat in Bandra (Sapna).

They will give you a good haircut. The numbers are given in the post above, you can call and book appointment and check the charges.

@Anonymous (straightened hair): use a very good conditioner and that will help. I'd strongly recommend Kerastase deep conditioner (you can find it in kerastase stores in Delhi or Mumbai or check their website for retailer details).
A leave-in conditioner overnight will also be a good idea. Will make your hair soft and manageable. Use Kerastase conditioner for dry or damaged hair.

  152. Hi,
Could you please suggest a good stylist for very thick and very long hair? I have always had shoulder length hair, but I got a TERRIBLE haircut at BBlunt last year (the hairdresser just wouldn't take my brief, can't recall her name) so decided to grow my hair out. And now it is up to my waist and really thick and with no style :(

I want a haircut with a lot of layers, so I can leave it open and it should not be too short, bcz my hair is frizzy and if it is cut too short, it just blows up.

Please suggest a good stylist (South Bbay even upto dadar is ok, budget 1300 to 1800 n no more). Please also help me with stylist lingo. How should I brief the stylist to get my point across? The first layer should be a little below the earlobes n the last layer below shoulders. And many many layers in between. And help get rid of the volume so I can leave it open. You're my SOS call, help!

    ReplyDelete
  153. Hi I just posted above (thick long hair). Forgot to mention that it is okay if the stylist is from B'Blunt or juice (key places in mind), but he/she should be willing to listen and give me the hairstyle i want and not shove his ideas down my throat. Shall await your prompt reply!

    Thanks

    ReplyDelete
  154. @Anonymous: I would recommend Kadamberi at b:Blunt Juhu, she listens to what you want and gives you a cut as per your need. If you're not sure, she can suggest and you could decide. You could also try Naz at their Peddar Road Salon

  157. Hi,
I wanna get a hair cut done on Sun. I usually get it done at Nalini's but this time I wanna try something else.

Pls suggest. I dont mind around 2k-3k but want a nice and diff one.

    ReplyDelete
  158. @Nishi: I would suggest you go for some natural treatment for your hair to fix the problem first and make your hair more manageable. If you stay in Mumbai you could go to Nirmal Herbals and take their hair treatment - get more details on them: http://www.nirmalherbal.com/
For a good haircut, you can go to b:Blunt and take an appointment from Osh. He's the senior most stylist there and can give a good fix.

@binoli: you could go to b:Blunt and get a haircut from Kadamberi or if you can spend more try one of their more senior stylist.

    ReplyDelete
  159. Thanx.

I ended up going to Vardha at Nalini's like always. Well, I am happy with the cut I have got. Will try B:blunt next time..

Well, I have a smooth straight hair but during parties and all , Is it ok to do blowdry / straightening?? Does it damage the hair?? How often in a month that should be done?

    ReplyDelete
  160. I hav thick and heavy hair and want some nice hair cut widout reducing the lenght much.
can u suggest me some good salon. Budget is arnd 1500/-

    ReplyDelete
  161. @binoli: Blowdry and straigtening certainly does damage hair, so you must try to restrict it as much possible. Especially straightening. Gte a good dryer with ions and cold option. And use some hair protecting serum before you use it.

Make sure you religiously use a conditioner.

@Mansi: pls go through the salons recommended in the post, they all are good and would have some stylist that would be in your budget

  166. @HairNme: go for side swept bangs, would look best on your face shape. Check out this link for Bangs for different face shape (scroll down on the link for bangs): http://beautify-flr.blogspot.com/2009/01/2008-fashion-flashback-happy-new-year.html

As for the stylist, I'd recommend Naz at b:Blunt at Peddar Road. She's good esp for bangs.

  167. Where can i get international branded shampoos in mumbai.?
    mumbai or navi mumbai.
i am finding american crew shampoo basically.
    "the thickening one for men"
i have heard about "the beauty bar" store in bandra, i asked them but they dont have it.
any other stores that you know about?
if not that shampoo but any store who keeps international brands would do.

    ReplyDelete
  168. You can get international brands at Alfa in Irla (Vile Parle). They carry a huge collection. Alternatively, you can also try Karestase shampoo they're very good for hair and is one of the best shampoo brand of the world. They're available at Jean Claude Biguine and b:Blunt salons and also have a store/salon in the Palladium Mall in Lower Parel.

    ReplyDelete
  169. hi..at alfa virla there are not many varieties i have been there.
anyways i will think to use kerastase.
but i am confused which one.
i have normal to dry hair, frizzy too sometimes.
and yes hairfall is there so i dont want any strong ones.
i used american crew.. it was very light and less chemicals i guess. Felt less hairfall.

and dint felt any need to use any conditioner also after that.
dont know i can find it in kerastase too or not.

  170. Hi,
First of all kudos to this site! I read these posts last year and made the best choice when I went to b:blunt Juhu and got my hair cut there from Avan.
Although expensive at about 3000 or 3500, I was really able to work with it for the remainder of the year. She was someone who knew how to give a short hair cut.
This time i'll be heading to b:blunt and probably ask for Kadambari to get my hair colour as I am attending a friend's Indian wedding.
Thanks everyone for all the posts!
ps: Please never make this site a sell out=) really appreciate it!!

  174. Hi,
I'm a 17 year old girl. I want to get a really good haircut. I don't know if i want something funky, but I don't want to look older than my age...so no haircuts that make me look too mature.
I'm confused which would be good for me. B Blunt or Juice? As you said, B blunt is no doubt the best, but I'm worried that I'd get a very woman-ish look.
I'm okay with spending a bit more, but I want it to be really good!
    Please Help!

  175. @Anonymous: b:Blunt is good for all haircuts. They would certainly help you in giving a more peppy cut suitable for your age. Just explain them what you need. Try Naz at Peddar Road or Kadamberi or Mona in Juhu

In fact one of the reader's of the blog has given us a good feedback of Senior Stylist Praveen, you could try him too. Good luck!!

@Anonymous: for small face bob is the most flattering haircut. They also give appearance of thicker hair. Pixies also suit small faces, and makes you look younger. But you must go to a good stylist to get the right look.

  189. Permanent Straightening: all of them are good for straightening. However I would strongly recommend not to go for straightening. It severaly damages the hair and makes them rough. Instead learnn to blow dry straight or buy good straightening irons.

Men's Hair Salon: WHich area are you looking for in? Jean Claude Biguine is good for men.

Aalim Hakim: He's good but you have to ensure you get his appointment only.

Long Hair: I'd suggest you go at b:Blunt at Juhu and get your haircut done from Kadamberi. She's good and would listen to you. Just make sure you share your concern of going too short firmly.

  198. Apologies for delay in reply:

@confused: Would recommend Avan Contractor at b:blunt as more experienced.

@Anonymous: If you go against the nature it certainly has its repurcussions, so striaghtening of hair will also damage hair. Instead why dont you buy a good quality straightening iron like GHD or chi and use this on good occassions. Sometimes even a blow dryer does a gr8 job with much lesser damage.

@Anonymous (April): Christian Georgio is very good, but its hard to get his appointment as he is travelling most of the times. You can alternatively try Osh at b:Blunt. He's very good too.
